GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs responsible skilled and technical work in the inspection, repair and maintenance of pumping station equipment of municipal wastewater collection and/or stormwater systems; performs related work as required. Work is performed under the supervision of the Utilities Maintenance Supervisor and performance is reviewed in progress and upon completion by observation and through results obtained. This is medium work requiring exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performing the inspection, maintenance and repair of wastewater and/or stormwater pump stations. Ensure lift stations are operated and maintained per state regulatory requirements. Inspect lift stations, stormwater stations and related equipment, including motors, pumps, generators, electric panels, control systems, SCADA equipment, wetwells, piping and appurtenances for malfunctions, maintenance needs, and breakage; detect potential problems. Diagnose malfunctioning mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment. Ensure necessary repairs are completed. Ensure preventative maintenance on pump station equipment as per manufacturer’s recommendations. Ensure pump station buildings and grounds are properly maintained. Keep work areas clean. Coordinate and assist contractors with equipment repairs or maintenance when needed. Respond to emergency callouts on a 24-hour basis. Notify supervisor of sewer overflows immediately. Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding sewer system issues as assigned; investigate customer complaints. Review blueprints, utility maps, electrical drawings and schematics as needed and file appropriately. Inventory and inspect materials, tools, and equipment for proper use and care; maintain tools, equipment and spare parts in proper working order. Perform or schedule normal maintenance, cleaning, and servicing on tools, equipment and vehicles. Enter requisitions for contractors, equipment, materials and supplies. Maintain operations, maintenance and repair records; complete logs and checklists, service orders, written reports, and other paperwork related to the task, including readings from various gauges, meters and indicators. Provide status reports to supervisor. Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment as required.
