The Perinatal LPN also maintains unit equipment and supplies, performs basic screening tests, collects specimens and assists physicians, midwives and nurses with procedures and peri-operative cases. Serves as a member of the OB-OR team as a scrub technologist working with OB/GYN surgeons, registered nurse, anesthesiologists, certified nurse anesthetists, and ancillary support personnel whose primary function is scrubbing for surgical cases such as scheduled and/ or emergency C-sections, hysterectomies, and PPTL. These functions include handling instruments, supplies, medication, media, specimens and instrument cases. When required, will function as a second assistant. Surveys the environment of care and maintains the environment in a state of safety and readiness. a. Stocks all areas with appropriate supplies and equipment. b. Monitors supply levels and requests restocking/reordering as indicated. c. Ensures that supplies and equipment are kept in proper location. d. Manages hallway clutter. e. Reports defective equipment and environmental hazards appropriately. f. Demonstrates understanding of and adherence to proper procedures for handling and cleaning equipment. g. Maintains patient rooms in state of cleanliness and organization. h. Restocks labor rooms following delivery i.
