About the role Hybrid | Full-time The Business Development Manager for Geoanalytics in Canada & the United States leads sales activities and manages a team of representatives. Working with the General Manager, they drive growth by expanding the customer base, increasing revenue, and improving client satisfaction. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities, building client relationships, managing business development and sales operations, overseeing the CRM, and ensuring a high-quality client experience. The role also involves coaching the sales team, tracking metrics, reporting progress, and collaborating with internal departments to meet company goals. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, a systematic approach to lead development, and a strong work ethic. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with Business Development and Client Service teams across ALS to identify and advance opportunities for alignment and mutual growth Work with Geoanalytics Product Owners and ALS Marketing stakeholders to organize and use sales collateral (e.g., presentations and technical materials) Identify and develop new business leads and engage potential clients through proactive outreach Develop and implement strategic business development plans to grow Geoanalytics’ market share Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the global sales pipeline, adjusting strategies to ensure the pipeline remains healthy and supports growth targets Lead and manage a high-performing sales team by providing coaching, mentorship and development opportunities Oversee and utilize CRM software to effectively support sales activities Work directly with clients to scope prospective opportunities, prepare detailed financial analyses and proposals for submission, and close sales Expand the scope of current service offerings with existing clients Ensure continuation of services with existing clients following project term conclusion Prepare proposals and negotiate contracts with clients to secure new business that align with company’s strategic goal Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products and services tailored to client needs Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within existing and potential client organizations Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams to ensure seamless communication, timely delivery of services, and prompt resolution of any issues or concerns Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking activities to build brand awareness and generate leads Provide input and insights to support marketing and promotional initiatives targeted at increasing brand awareness and market share Analyze market trends, competitors, and customer feedback to identify new business opportunities and areas for growth Other duties as assigned About you: Demonstrated experience in new business development and achieving sales targets; experience with consulting, SaaS solutions, or B2B software is highly preferred Proficiency in converting leads into clients with a track record of achieving high customer satisfaction Competency using CRM software to track, manage, and maintain up-to-date lead and pipeline metrics, with Hubspot experience being an asset Ability to leverage data and reporting to identify key insights and enable informed decision making that drives growth and enhances business development efforts Familiarity with the mining or natural resources industry is an asset Strong English communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of clients; additional business-level French language skills are preferred Demonstrated professionalism and flexibility in working independently and with teams with or without a direct line of accountability Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in mining, engineering, or a relevant technical field Proficiency in the full sales cycle, preferably in software or consulting Minimum 8-10+ years of experience in business development or software sales Minimum 3 years in a sales-related supervisory or management role preferred Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving history Physical Demands: Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities Be available to work outside normal business hours when required Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day Ability to communicate via telephone and e-mail without assistance Frequent domestic and international travel will be required (up to 40%), occasionally on short notice This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 2 days per week working in-person in the North Vancouver office Working at ALS Our people are our most valuable asset and drive our success at ALS.
