Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, LLC Safety Specialist Location: Monessen, Pennsylvania Reference #: R10071 Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Safety Specialist at our greater Pittsburgh, PA facility. The Safety Specialist is responsible for planning, directing, and managing programs, and resolving issues in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Safety Specialist will report to the Section Manager, Health and Safety and will provide technical guidance regarding safety issues, OSHA compliance, and safety performance. Summary of Responsibilities: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, Cleveland-Cliffs safety standards, and safety plan requirements. Provide technical updates as needed regarding upcoming changes in regulations. Foster positive working relationships with the USW employees and plant safety teams. Reduce injuries at the plant and implement improvements in plant and division safety programs. Review and define regulatory required training. Coordinate regulatory inspections and required safety audits. Coordinate and conduct safety training for salaried, represented employees, and contractors. Coordinate investigations of accidents and near misses, develop root cause analyses, and complete Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) investigations. Audit housekeeping and area safety plans. Track the status of Leading and Lagging indicators, investigations, and corrective actions. Manage all injury cases and maintain OSHA logs using corporate injury tracking systems. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in safety, health, or related field. Experience commensurate with the position will be considered instead of a degree. Must be knowledgeable of federal and state safety regulations. Detailed knowledge of proper Lockout Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hazard assessment. Ability to do data analysis and risk assessment. Ability to analyze and interpret technical or government regulations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop policies, write reports, and make presentations. 2-4 years of safety experience in an industrial setting. Preferred Qualifications: OHSAS 18001 or ISO45001 experience recommended.
