Senior zOS Systems Programmer - Hybrid

Mainframe Systems team delivers a resilient and secure Hardware and software environment to the Schwab core client applications. Mainframe availability is a top requirement, and our team must ensure 24 x 7 systems availability to the Schwab applications. You will work alongside other top skilled mainframe systems programmers to install and configure Mainframe hardware and software products for the Schwab zOS and zLinux Mainframe environment. Diagnose problems and interact with IBM and other vendors as required to provide recommended solutions. Partner with application teams to provide support for application mainframe software including, IBM Developer for zOS (IDZ), Fault Analyzer, and COBOL. What you have 9 years of systems programming experience in IBM Mainframe hardware and software with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the z/OS operating system, JES2, Security Concepts, and components of the z/OS Mainframe environment. Advanced experience using SMP/E to maintain, install, and customize the mainframe IBM and ISV software products. Working knowledge installing and deploying all related Mainframe hardware. Advanced knowledge of Unix System Services (USS) file system management. Advanced experience managing Coupling Facilities in Sysplex environments. Advanced knowledge of Disaster Recovery Concepts, GDPS experience a plus. Working knowledge of Mainframe hardware installation processes. Working knowledge of ZOSMF and Zowe. Working knowledge and experience supporting z/VM and zLinux a plus. Proven ability to diagnose complex issues and recommend solutions as needed. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external team members. Ability to effectively engage subject matter experts and understand technical topics. Ability to work independently for self-identified tasks to complete mainframe hardware installs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products that include – Word and Excel Experience using change management processes to deploy software changes into Production and following rigorous testing and backout procedures. Must be able to work weeknights and weekend to implement changes. Provide On-Call support on rotation basis. This includes working from carrier battle groups, other sea-based platforms, Naval Air Stations, or other shore-based locations. TRAINING & ADVANCEMENT Those entering aviation programs must first attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI, and then complete a six-week air indoctrination course at Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola, FL. From there, prospective Pilots and NFOs attend primary flight training. Pilots and NFOs then request an aircraft pipeline and enter the intermediate phase of flight training, which builds upon basic flight and navigation training. The final phase is advanced naval flight training, focusing on mission specifics. After completion, Pilots and NFOs are awarded their "wings of gold" and report to their respective Fleet Replacement Squadrons (FRSs) for further training specific to their aircraft. Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance. It's also important to note that specialized training received and work experience gained in the course of service can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields. EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES Following your initial flying tour as a Navy Pilot or an NFO, you can attend the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA, where you may be able to earn a master's or doctoral degree while being paid full-time. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS A four-year degree is required to work as a Navy Pilot or Naval Flight Officer. Candidates seeking an Officer position in this community must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field. All candidates must also be U.S. citizens, willing to serve worldwide, and qualified for sea duty. General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before, or whether you've never served before.
