The physician assistant will review the patient's medications, diet, therapy course, adherence to management plan and patient observations. Will modify regiment as indicated. Shall instruct and counsel patience and family members as required and does so in a culturally sensitive manner. The PA will refer patients to appropriate contracted medical facilities providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided at the Uintah and Ouray Service Unit. Will assure preparation of appropriate medical records for all patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care. Will provide clinical reports and correspondence concerning patients under his or her care to physicians, hospitals, and other individuals and facilities. Will work closely with allied professionals to advise and coordinate their services at other professionals and the management applications medical, psychological and social problems. The PA will provide prenatal care to expected patients in the first and second trimester. Divide pediatric care from newborn to adulthood and is familiar with growth, development, disease states and unique status of pediatric patients. Is active in pre-visit planning of the clinic, coordination of care and participates in clinic improvement activities. Can expect to anticipate evaluating and treating approximately 12 to 20 patients during an eight-hour work day. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures normally performed by family practice nurse practitioners such as, but not limited to performing minor surgery including but not limited to laceration repair and excision of skin lesions. May also perform orthopedic procedures such as joint injections, joint aspirations, aspiration of cysts, trigger point injections and other procedures normally performed by an outpatient physician assistant. Physician Assistant - REQUIREMENTS Experience: Must have a minimum of six months experience. Education: Completion of a minimum of a master's degree in physician assistant studies. Licensure: Must have an active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action license as a nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
