Our Valdez Refinery, operating since 1993, is the newest refinery in the U.S. Today the refinery processes 60,000 bbl/day producing ultralow sulfur diesel, heating fuel and jet fuels for Alaska's South Central and South West regions. Refinery Electrical & Instrument Technician is an hourly position that maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and installs different types of instrumentation and electrical equipment throughout the refinery. The E&I Technician functions in a team environment and must also be able to work independently, as needed. Typical shifts are 14 days on and 14 days off, 12 hours each day, but can vary based on needs; must be willing to work overtime, as well as be willing to be on-call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies. This is a safety sensitive position. Candidates must demonstrate personal commitment to incident and injury free operations with a proven track record in safety and reliability. Must work outside in inclement weather in compact and tight spaces. E&I Technician reports directly to the E&I Lead. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned) Perform and document maintenance, calibration, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair of electronic, mechanical and pneumatic instruments and systems. Work with a wide variety of instruments including pH, conductivity, ultrasonic, guided wave radar, mass flow, pressure transducers, RTDs, etc. Maintain files, logs and drawings for all designated instrumentation and electrical equipment. Maintain instrumentation and electrical spare parts inventory to preserve plant reliability. Understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Signal Flow Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Panel Drawings, One-Line Drawings, Loop Sheets, and Wire Lists. Perform all duties in manner consistent with environmental, health and safety policies. Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs and communicate them to the Electrical & Instrumentation Lead.
