What does an Organ Donation Recovery Specialist do? Utilizing your nursing expertise, you will oversee the critical process of procurring organs for donation. Collaborating with the clinical team, you will assess organ compatibility for recipients and facilitate swift and safe surgical and technical procedures to ensure that the organs are packaged and transferred efficiently. You will work closely with hospital personnel and surgeons to facilitate the life-saving process of organ transplantation. Key responsibilities include: Evaluating patient suitability for organ donation by reviewing medical records and consulting with medical staff. Coordinating organ placement and allocation with transplant programs and surgeons. Assisting in the surgical recovery of organs and managing peri-operative logistics such as transportation, surgical packaging, and preparing lab specimens for shipment. Providing compassionate support to donor families and conducting medical/social history interviews. Updating donor information in electronic medical records. Performing additional duties as assigned. **This position involves a 12-hour shift schedule. Employees will work day or night shifts (from 8:00 to 8:00). Night shift employees receive an additional $5 per hour. You can expect to work 15 days per month, with schedules provided 30 days in advance.** Compensation Package: Annual compensation for Organ Donation Recovery Specialists ranges from $150,000 to $170,000. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is available for qualifying candidates. The ideal candidate will possess: At least two years of experience in a critical care setting. The ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills. A valid Registered Nursing (RN) License. A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet MVR underwriting requirements. Flexibility to work day and night shifts, weekends, and some holidays based on organizational needs.
