Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION: HF Sinclair is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor, for our Petrolia, Pennsylvania location. This position is responsible for supervising and providing technical direction to multi-skilled specialists at our petrochemical facility to meet the needs of operations in a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally sound manner. Candidates in this position will work with minimal supervision while self-directing their work to identify, locate, and correct operational problems arising in control systems, instrumentation and electrical distribution. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and Manage Team : Oversee and coordinate the activities of electricians and instrumentation specialists to ensure work is performed safely and meets quality and schedule requirements. Provides on-call coverage to ensure orderly conduct of business. Safety Compliance : Enforce and monitor all safety policies, regulations, and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant safety codes, standards, and practices. Conduct regular safety audits. Planning and Coordination : Plan daily and weekly work schedules, prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and delegate responsibilities. Coordinate with other supervisors, engineers, and contractors as required. Quality Assurance : Ensure the correct installation, calibration, maintenance, and testing of electrical systems and instrumentation equipment. Review and inspect work to confirm adherence to engineering specifications, drawings, ISO and Food Safety standards. Technical Support : Provide technical guidance and support to team members on troubleshooting and resolving electrical and instrumentation issues. Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. Performance Management : Evaluate the performance of assigned staff, provide coaching and training as necessary. Identify and support continuous development opportunities for team members. Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of work activities, incidents, inspections, and equipment conditions. Prepare and submit reports on maintenance, performance, and safety issues. Budget and Inventory Management : Monitor and manage the inventory of electrical and instrumentation materials, spare parts, and equipment. Work within assigned budgets to achieve operational objectives. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Five or more years of experience in an E&I role with at least three years of supervisory or leadership in a maintenance capacity. EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: An Associate’s Degree in an Electrical, Instrumentation or technical field. REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation equipment. Excellent understanding of safety and environmental regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, NEC). Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Proven ability to lead and mentor a team effectively. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to respond to work under emergency or high stress situations. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in fast paced environment. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s). Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness. Proficient with MS Office products and applicable mainframe applications. Knowledge or experience with SAP preferred. SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for managing direct and indirect reports along with contractors assigned to this department. WORK CONDITIONS: Work environment ranging from office to in-plant. Plant exposures include all weather elements as well as noise, dust, extreme heat and activities such as climbing stairs and wearing personal protective equipment including occasional use of respirators. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping. Job conditions may require making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 100ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, with valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance, working in confined spaces, and perceiving color differences.
