Experience with and an understanding of situations that contribute to family/individual stress, problems and crisis situations Job Objective The Custody and Resource Coordinator (CRC) assists ERO Field Office and detention facility staff in maintaining a safe detention environment. The CRC also provides services and support to individuals on issues that commonly affect the ICE detained population and ICE mission such as responsive support to victims, trauma, sexual abuse and assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and medical and mental health care. The duty location of each CRC will be at a designated ICE detention facility or ICE office. At each duty location, the CRC will be responsible for supporting ERO Field office and facility staff in their daily duties. Responsibilities Assist with needs, requests (on ICE Detainee Request Form or otherwise), and complaints from the detained noncitizen population regarding non-officer or immigration case related issues. Assist ERO officers with addressing noncitizen requests related to parent/child communication and/or child welfare involvement. Facilitate on-site support of disability accommodations, including coordinating followup, as requested by ERO, with detention facilities upon submission of a Disability Accommodation Notification to ERO Headquarters (HQ). Assist ERO and detention facility staff as a resource to facilitate the compliance of applicable agency policies and detention standards. Facilitate discussions and communicate directly with detained noncitizens. Areas of facilitation include but are not limited to the following topic areas: allegations of sexual abuse and assault, identification and monitoring of pregnant noncitizens, resources for noncitizens in segregated housing or special management units, and admission and release. Address ERO and detention facility staff questions or concerns about specific noncitizens, including available services. Provide noncitizen referrals to appropriate ERO and detention facility staff for care and follow-up to prevent critical incidents and issues (e.g., medical, mental health, chaplain, etc.). Support noncitizens with specialized needs or requiring heightened attention and conduct noncitizen wellness checks and follow-ups upon request by ERO Field Office and/or ERO HQ. Meet with newly detained noncitizens during or after intake to answer questions, address concerns, provide brief orientation to the detention facility and CRC services. Assist ERO Field Offices who run specialized housing units and programs or services that are designed to provide appropriate care to vulnerable populations, such as: a. Dedicate Housing for Transgender Noncitizens b. Behavioral/Mental Health Unit(s) c. Family Residential Centers d. Reunification of relatives and children in federal custody e. Young adult case management services Provide language interpretation for facility and ERO staff communicating with the detained noncitizen population. Provide general support, as needed, to help maintain safety and security of the detention facility. Assist ERO Field Office in removal planning for noncitizens with vulnerabilities and in general population by - researching referrals and identifying to resources in the noncitizen's home country and developing individualized Departure Plans. Assist ERO Field Office in release planning for noncitizens with vulnerabilities and in general population by researching referrals and identifying needed resources in the U.S. Planning activities may include communicating with family members, securing resources such as medical/mental healthcare, and identifying housing options or placement in a shelter or hospital/institution. Develop and maintain a national resource database of resources (in and outside of the United States) for CRC and ERO Officer use to facilitate the release and removal of noncitizens booked out of ICE custody. Minimum Job Requirements/Technical Requirements Knowledge of the case management process commensurate with training and education at a minimum at the bachelor's level. ABOUT Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technicians have expertise in the most conventional and unconventional explosives to ensure the secure disposal of explosive weaponry. They are on call to respond to any type of ordnance, and they receive specialized training to handle chemical, biological and nuclear weapons. They investigate and demolish natural and man-made underwater obstructions, prepare coastal regions for amphibious landings, and warn about potential threats at home and abroad. Whether getting the job done in a bomb suit or by utilizing state-of-the-art robotic technology, Navy EODs are trained to use the most advanced tools of their kind in a role that's vital to the safety of servicemembers and civilians. RESPONSIBILITIES As a Navy EOD Technician, you will have many far-ranging duties that can cast you on missions across the world. Your duties may require you to: Detonate and demolish hazardous munitions, pyrotechnics and outdated explosives Work with cutting-edge technology to remotely disable unsafe ordnance Perform parachute or helicopter insertion operations Support law enforcement agencies Clear waterways of mines in support of the Fleet Your unique skills and knowledge will add to the strengths of other Special Operations units, as well as your own. One assignment may have you parachuting from 17,000 feet, while the next may deliver you via an 11-meter Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB). It all depends on which unit you're supporting and the type of mission to be completed, as well as the required equipment weight of each team member, weather conditions and other parameters. TRAINING & ADVANCEMENT Becoming an EOD Technician is no easy process. While the rigorous 51 weeks of training are both physically and mentally grueling, you will be rewarded with unrivaled leadership opportunities, first-rate compensation and respect. After two months of recruit training in Great Lakes, Ill., your EOD training will begin. EOD Prep Course of Instruction (3 weeks) – The EOD training pipeline starts with preparatory training in Great Lakes, Ill. Candidates work on swim stroke development, long-range swims and physical conditioning. Diver Training (9 weeks) – Next comes dive school at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) in Panama City, Florida. Training covers basic concepts of scuba diving as well as dive physics, physiology and basic dive medicine. Candidates also learn about equipment such as the MK16 underwater rebreather. EOD School (42 weeks) – After successfully completing dive school, candidates transfer to Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. This training is comes in four sections, each teaching how to render safe or defuse specific types of ordnance. Air Ordnance Division – Focuses on bombs and missiles Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) – Includes "homemade bombs" Nuclear Ordnance Division – Covers basic nuclear physics and radiation monitoring and decontamination procedures Underwater Ordnance Division – Emphasizes torpedoes and other underwater explosives as well as underwater search techniques Basic Parachute Training (3 weeks) – After completing basic EOD school, graduates attend Basic Airborne Training ("jump school") at Fort Benning, Ga., where they qualify as a basic parachutist. EOD Tactical Training (3 weeks) – The final phase of training is in San Diego, Calif. It teaches helicopter insertion (fast-rope, rappel, cast and special patrol insertion, and extraction rigging), small arms/weapons training, small unit tactics (weapons, self-defense, land navigation and patrolling) and tactical communications (satellite and high frequency). Upon successful completion the EOD training pipeline, graduates are assigned to EOD Mobile Units where they gain advanced on-the-job training and experience as members of Mobile Teams, Carrier Strike Group/Expeditionary Strike Group Companies, Naval Special Warfare Companies and Marine Mammal Companies. Advanced Training – EOD technicians may pursue a number of advanced training options to hone and specialize their skills Helicopter insertion training Basic parachute training and parachute water insertion training Advanced Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (AIEDD) Jumpmaster training Small unit tactics Small Arms Instructor Language school (Defense Language Institute) EOD Communications (tactical radio communications) For those with further leadership aspirations and a college degree, Officer roles are available – providing the opportunity to lead and train others. EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES Following your initial flying tour as a Navy Pilot or an NFO, you can attend the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA, where you may be able to earn a master's or doctoral degree while being paid full-time. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS A four-year degree is required to work as a Navy Pilot or Naval Flight Officer. Candidates seeking an Officer position in this community must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field. All candidates must also be U.S. citizens, willing to serve worldwide, and qualified for sea duty. General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before, or whether you've never served before.
