These programs promote the development of healthy youth, families and community with an abundance of positive experiences for youth and family members including educational, recreational, community building and support services. Services, activities and hours may vary by site. The Youth Development Specialist performs a variety of duties related to the development and implementation of positive youth development and parent involvement projects or services in a program for at-risk youth. These activities include academic enrichment, sports and recreation, community service, and social and life skills. This position is under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor or Program Director. Essential Duties Plans and implements several projects simultaneously including coordination of staff and volunteers necessary for implementation. Supervises youth participating in Teen Program activities and accompanies supervising staff when transporting youth to off-site activities Engages, connects, and interacts with the youth enrolled in the program and their families. Develops relationships with individuals, agencies, and/or organizations in the community that are necessary to the implementation of assigned projects and services. Develops regular action plans (at least quarterly) and ensures that assigned outputs and outcomes are achieved. Develops and/or maintains a data collection system to ensure that appropriate records are kept for assigned projects and activities. Submits data, progress on milestones, narrative and other required information to the Program Supervisor or Program Director in a timely manner. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years' experience working with youth OR Associate degree in human services field, plus one year (1) of experience working with youth.
