PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Able to spend the majority of work related time outdoors. Able to maneuver in undeveloped areas on uneven surfaces for up to one mile in various types of weather. Must be able to effectively communicate orally (in person and over the telephone) and in writing (using electronic devices and handwritten) in English with other employees and the community. WORKING CONDITIONS: Position requires outdoor work where heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered. During summer months outside temperatures can be over 100 degrees for entire scheduled work day. During different job duties the noise inside or outside can become very loud. May be exposed daily to odors, dusts and gasses that may be uncomfortable or hazardous if proper procedures are not followed. Position requires travel within and outside of the City which imposes common travel hazards. Standard work hours will be Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with additional evening or weekend hours as required. Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 Hourly Location : Waukee, IA Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 202400009 Department: Parks & Recreation Opening Date: 12/17/2024 JOB PURPOSE Under the general direction of the Triumph Park Superintendent, provides maintenance services, including weed whipping, turf and field maintenance, fence repair, trash and litter removal and general customer service at Triumph Park and other assigned facilities employ. Duration: 8 to 9 months Tentative Start Date: Mid-March Work Hours: 20 to 30 hours per week Work Schedule: Weekend: Early morning to mid-day Some weekday hours Wages: $14.00 - $16.00 Must be 16 years of age or older. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SUCCESS FACTORS ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.) Performs maintenance and repairs to assigned facility. Completes weed whipping and trimming of assigned grounds according to standards. Provides necessary field preparation for assigned facility including striping and dragging of ball fields. Performs equipment repairs and cleaning as assigned. Communicates with facility users maintaining a high level of customer service. . QUALIFICATIONS QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum age 16. Must possess valid CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. Related work experience preferred. General knowledge of computers and software applications to utilize e-mail and timekeeping systems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Be responsive to visual and verbal alarms and other indications of distress. Required to lift to shoulder height and carry up to 50 pounds. Able to drive, climb in and out of equipment, and other modes of transportation. Able to maneuver along walkways, trails and undeveloped areas. Able to effectively communicate orally (in person and over the telephone) and in writing (using electronic devices and handwritten) in English with other employees, vendors and the community. WORKING CONDITIONS: Standard work hours will average 30 - 40 plus hours per week to meet the needs of Triumph Park and will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Majority of working hours will be outdoors where heat, cold, precipitation, and the results of weather and nature may be encountered. During summer months outside temperatures can be over 100 degrees for entire scheduled workday.
