They provide instruction and training in nutrition, food preparation, and meal planning. They also participate as a team member in problem-solving, operations support, and facilities maintenance. Must have a clean driving history and be able to meet the criteria for NOLS vehicle insurance coverage. Questions: Please contact [email protected] What does a Rations Manager do? This role is part of our Teton Valley operations team and includes the following responsibilities: Plan and purchase food to accommodate a variety of dietary requirements (e.g., allergies, intolerances, preferences) for staff, students, and field faculty, on the road, and in the field. Work with the Rocky Mountain rations department on bulk food acquisition. Perform associated bookkeeping duties—track expenses. Brief and advise field instructors on course rations, dietary requirements, allergen management, and meals. Maintain an impeccably clean and organized rations room. Oversee that food preparation, serving, and storage equipment are maintained in a sanitary, functional condition. Assist with operations, including transportation, equipment, evacuations, facilities maintenance/clean-up, and other duties as assigned. Periodically supervise one to three other Teton Valley employees within the rations department. What makes a great Rations Manager at NOLS Teton Valley? Staff members are not required to live on-property. Meals are provided for in-town staff when students are on-site. This is a full-time seasonal position with an anticipated start date in mid-April to begin training. Our summer season runs through mid-August. TRAINING & ADVANCEMENT Those entering aviation programs must first attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI, and then complete a six-week air indoctrination course at Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola, FL. From there, prospective Pilots and NFOs attend primary flight training. Pilots and NFOs then request an aircraft pipeline and enter the intermediate phase of flight training, which builds upon basic flight and navigation training. The final phase is advanced naval flight training, focusing on mission specifics. After completion, Pilots and NFOs are awarded their "wings of gold" and report to their respective Fleet Replacement Squadrons (FRSs) for further training specific to their aircraft. Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance. It's also important to note that specialized training received and work experience gained in the course of service can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields. EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES Following your initial flying tour as a Navy Pilot or an NFO, you can attend the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA, where you may be able to earn a master's or doctoral degree while being paid full-time. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS A four-year degree is required to work as a Navy Pilot or Naval Flight Officer. Candidates seeking an Officer position in this community must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field.
