Job Description Job Description Salary: WHO WE ARE: Firematic is a family-owned business serving those who protect us all for over 50 years! We are currently looking for an enthusiastic mechanical engineer with strong attention to detail to work with the Engineering team to design and engineer custom fire apparatus and emergency vehicles. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design emergency vehicle bodies and chassis cab accessories using SolidWorks software products Produce drawings that shop employees will utilize to fabricate and assemble new emergency vehicles Ensure CAD system configurations incorporate all large and small components to avoid conflicts when assemblies are erected Understand cable routing during the design of complex sheet metal assemblies Report to Director of Operations to synchronize design and production scheduling Follow all company safety procedures when observing or operating on the production floor Ensure products are consistent with those requested by the customer Generate and maintain parts lists to order necessary parts for each vehicle based on the given specification and design. Keep an organized parts & design library accessible by all fellow engineers Present vehicle designs to customers during Pre-Construction meetings, take notes. Communicate regularly with management & assigned sales-people with design updates. Regularly check shop work for quality assurance, communicate regularly with shop staff, providing advise & feedback. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years work experience Use SolidWorks to accurately and proficiently model complex structural sheet metal assemblies Use SolidWorks to create complex plumbing systems and electrical harnesses Experience with Solidwork's PDM & managing design libraries. Read written specification documents and use original thought, creativity and engineering knowledge to design products that strictly meet those specifications Ability to accurately and completely indicate design problems and form solutions in a prompt, complete and clear manner Thorough understanding of automotive engineering principles Apply automotive engineering principles to adapt drivetrains to accommodate additional PTO components Understand mechanical and electrical requirements of purchased parts related to the automotive and fire industries Understand the abilities and inabilities of CNC waterjet machinery, CNC Press Brakes, GTAW & GMAW as well as all common machine shop and metal shop tooling Hands on automotive or aviation repair experience Create drawings for a manufacturing facility Create assembly and welding work instructions Use knowledge of fluid dynamics in conjunction with common fire industry plumbing products and procedures to design complex hydrodynamic systems Capacity to maintain extreme level of detail Work as part of a team to brainstorm, troubleshoot and produce designs, procedures and products Must be able to deal with customers, staff and vendors in an enthusiastic, cheerful and helpful manner Ability to learn and translate essential technical details regarding the fire apparatus utilizing CAD/CAM software. OVERALL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Puppy Program Manager, provides training, arranges temporary homes, and puppy socialization. Supervises volunteers in opportunities for proper raising, informal training and socialization activities of puppies meant to maximize the dogs’ success as guides or service dogs. Approximately 14 to 16 hours per week. This position is with the MCI-Shirley Prison. Part time (14-16 hours/week) Key Job Requirements & Qualifications: Minimum of BA or BS degree or equivalent, such as technical degree with 3 to 5 years’ experience in customer or volunteer oriented service. 2 years’ proven experience in dog and puppy handling and training. Ability to evaluate and manage volunteers to maximize the potential of their puppies. Proficient interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills needed for recruitment, class instruction, and obedience training. Ability to commute 85-90% of time working in the field and work overtime including weekends and evenings. Ability to travel out of state periodically. Ability to communicate via voice mail and e-mail and use computer efficiently. Valid driver’s license in good standing. Must safely handle a variety of large breed dogs, weighing up to 90 pounds, with varying strength and manageability. Able to safely lift up to 40 pounds. Employees are required to seek assistance when lifting dogs or objects weighing more than 40 pounds. Possess near acuity and accommodation to see and read dog’s reaction to environment and distractions. Ability to hear to interact with dog, puppy raiser volunteers, and public either in an informal way or giving formal instructions through seminar and training exercises. Ability to hear above traffic and other outside noises. Employee is required to: stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
