Our Wind Technicians are a vital part of our organization, and we take pride in hiring and training the best in the industry. This is a full-time, permanent position with significant room for advancement. This is both the entry level and initial training level for the series. The hiring manager may elect to fill this position at the higher Wind Technician II Level dependent upon a candidate's skills and experience. We are looking for a Wind Technician I or II to maintain all aspects of our turbines (e.g., electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, etc.). The physical work location is at the Cimarron II Wind: 8502 Highway 23 Cimarron, KS 67835. Responsibilities: Always maintain a high level of safety awareness Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation Maintaining all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary) within Maximo Required/Basic Qualifications: Wind Technician - Level I: High School/GED In addition to the High School/GED requirement, the ability to complete Level I job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year Wind Technician - Level II: High School/GED External Candidates - In addition to the High School/GED requirement, (3+) years of related work experience. Must pass required Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I JPMs within the probationary period. Internal Candidates - In addition to the High School/GED requirement, (1+) year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician. Must also have Turbine Technician-1 and Electrical Operator1 JPM Completed. Desired Qualifications: AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study. Experience with Siemens 2.3 turbines Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technologies High voltage and substation maintenance experience Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e., voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools) Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements Competent with Maximo EZ Max mobile work and My Time management systems Microsoft Office Including Excel/Word/PowerPoint CPR and AED Training Certification TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training Forklift certified Working Conditions: Valid Driver’s License required Any travel to projects Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals, or solvents Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles Ability to climb and work on turbine towers with heights up to 400 ft. daily Ability to lift 75lbs individually Walking, Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds Working in all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow) Completion of OEM or third-party technical specialty training program. Pilots and NFOs then request an aircraft pipeline and enter the intermediate phase of flight training, which builds upon basic flight and navigation training. The final phase is advanced naval flight training, focusing on mission specifics. After completion, Pilots and NFOs are awarded their "wings of gold" and report to their respective Fleet Replacement Squadrons (FRSs) for further training specific to their aircraft. Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance. It's also important to note that specialized training received and work experience gained in the course of service can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields. EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES Following your initial flying tour as a Navy Pilot or an NFO, you can attend the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA, where you may be able to earn a master's or doctoral degree while being paid full-time. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS A four-year degree is required to work as a Navy Pilot or Naval Flight Officer. Candidates seeking an Officer position in this community must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field. All candidates must also be U.S. citizens, willing to serve worldwide, and qualified for sea duty.
