Unit Overview: Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit, where you'll care for a diverse and complex patient population, including: Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections. Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries. Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program. High volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases. As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), our unit offers exposure to the latest neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care. What You'll Do: Provide comprehensive, evidence-based patient care utilizing the nursing process. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for safe and compassionate care. Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to support optimal outcomes. Enhance patient experience across the continuum of care. Why Join Us? Major Responsibilities: Assess patient needs and implement individualized interventions while including families in the care process. Recognize significant changes in patient condition and adjust care plans proactively. Implement patient safety strategies and collaborate on discharge planning. Evaluate outcomes for patients, teams, and units, taking action as needed. Communicate effectively to promote teamwork and delegate appropriately. Promote patient safety and report any incidents timely. Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse license in the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification. Completion of an accredited Nursing program. Experience: Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated holistic patient care skills and situational awareness. Proficient computer skills with electronic medical records. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport. Ability to make critical, independent decisions effectively. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills. Capacity for multitasking in a dynamic environment. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, and reach frequently throughout the workday. Lifting requirements: up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and up to 20 lbs. overhead. Exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases with necessary protective equipment. Functionality in speech, vision, hearing, and touch, required for IV insertion and other clinical functions.
