Het is belangrijk dat je in staat bent feedback te ontvangen van je collega, maar ook feedback te kunnen geven. Je leert van elkaar en helpt elkaar ontwikkelen en groeien. Het is voorwaarde dat je zelf ervaring hebt op het gebied van een psychische stoornis/kwetsbaarheid en/of een verslaving om bij Ixta Noa te kunnen werken. Je gaat immers vanuit je ervaring anderen begeleiden en dan is inzicht en een goed voorbeeld kunnen geven de kern van hoe we werken. Bij dit alles krijg je natuurlijk begeleiding van Ixta Noa. Werken bij Ixta Noa is immers werken aan jezelf. Wat wil jij bereiken met het werken als ervaringsdeskundige, wat is jouw persoonlijke proces, en hoe kunnen we jou daarin ondersteunen? Een onderdeel van het werken bij Ixta Noa is ook het deelnemen aan intervisies (3x per jaar). Je bespreekt dan samen met je collega’s en de medewerkers hoe het gaat en of er dingen zijn waar je tegenaan loopt. Ook hebt je op vaste momenten individuele evaluatiegesprekken. Voor je inloopvrijwilliger kan worden, loop je een periode van ten minste 5 dagdelen mee op een inloop. Daarnaast loop je minimaal 1 dagdeel mee op het praktijkhuis in Nijmegen. In deze periode spreken we met elkaar af wat de wederzijdse verwachtingen zijn. We evalueren na deze vijf keer hoe het is gegaan en of je zover bent om aan de basistraining deel te nemen. Het meelooptraject kan eventueel verlengd worden. In de basistraining van Ixta Noa leer je meer over het inzetten van je ervaringsdeskundigheid. Daarna volg je de inlooptraining waarin we door middel van rollenspellen oefenen met voorkomende situaties bij de inloop/ praktijkhuis. Werken als inloopvrijwilliger in een Ixta Noa Praktijkhuis houdt in dat je: ervaring hebt op het gebied van een psychische stoornis of verslaving; niet meer (veel) gehinderd wordt door de psychische stoornis of verslaving; het leuk vindt om anderen te begeleiden in hun herstelproces vanuit je eigen ervaring en je eigen ervaring hierbij “methodisch” kan inzetten; bereid bent tot het volgen van intervisiebijeenkomsten en trainingen; bereid bent om ook administratieve en huishoudelijke taken uit te voeren; het leuk vindt om samen te werken met andere vrijwilligers. AGENCY OVERVIEW CPCS is the state agency in Massachusetts responsible for providing an attorney when the state or federal constitution or a state statute requires the appointment of an attorney for a person who cannot afford to retain one. The agency provides representation in criminal, delinquency, youthful offender, child welfare, guardianship, mental health, sexually dangerous person, and sex offender registry cases, as well as in appeals and post-conviction and post-judgment proceedings related to those matters. The clients we represent are diverse across every context imaginable and bring many unique cultural dimensions to the matters we address. This reality creates a critical need for CPCS staff to be culturally competent and able to work well with people of different races, ethnicities, genders and/or sexual orientation identities, abilities, and limited English proficiency, among other protected characteristics. POSITION OVERVIEW Student legal interns are an integral part of our office and work closely with our team of dedicated attorneys, social service advocates, and investigators. Interns qualified to appear in court under SJC Rule 3:03 will represent clients at arraignments, bail appeals, and pretrial motions, all under the close supervision of experienced attorneys. Out-of-court work includes legal research and writing, case investigation, client meetings, and assisting attorneys with the preparation of trials. Interns are also encouraged to attend court as often as they would like to observe. An internship in this office includes working closely with a group of experienced, dedicated, and passionate attorneys, all of whom are committed to helping to prepare interns to be excellent public defenders. Our attorneys are always grateful for intern assistance and input, and recognize that our interns work can be an integral part of a successful defense for our clients. All interns begin their internship by participating in training focused on client advocacy skills and Massachusetts criminal practice. Interns are also welcome to attend all office trainings and brainstorm sessions. We are currently working in-person, and interns will be able and expected to work on-site at our office and/or our courts most days. Our office and all of our courts are easily accessible via public transportation, so interns are not required to have access to a car.
