You will find us on every major US Naval ship in the fleet! Position: CAD Designer Reports to: Engineering Supervisor Location: Bridgton, Maine Position Summary: Howell Laboratories, Inc. (HLI) is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) engineering and manufacturing company based in Bridgton, ME. As a CAD Designer, you will work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to process engineering change drawings, design and draft drawings for new products. You will communicate with manufacturing to ensure drawings meet our capabilities. You will work with the Engineering Manager to define tasks to meet project goals and timelines. Responsibilities: Revise drawings per engineering markups and produce detailed drawings using CAD software. Ensure designs meet industry, government, and customer standards and specifications. Perform engineering support tasks under direct supervision (e.g., transmittals). Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party. Perform other duties as assigned. Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work. Learn and properly use document management systems. Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) for assembly drawings. Work with Mechanical and Electrical engineers to develop 3D models. Required Skills and Qualifications: An associate degree in drafting & design is preferred. A certificate in drafting & design with relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an associate degree. Experience with Inventor and AutoCAD is preferred. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure the efficient operation of our facility. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, precision alignment, and preventative maintenance practices. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair equipment: Assemble, dismantle, and troubleshoot industrial machinery, including conveyors, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems. Perform routine maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Read and interpret technical drawings: Utilize blueprints, schematics, and manuals to guide installation and repair work. Precision alignment: Use tools and techniques to ensure proper alignment of shafts, couplings, and other moving components. Troubleshoot mechanical issues: Diagnose problems in machinery, determine solutions, and implement effective repairs. Fabrication and modification: Weld, cut, and fabricate parts as needed to improve or maintain equipment functionality. Ensure compliance: Follow all safety regulations and company policies while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Collaborate with team members: Work closely with engineers, electricians, and other team members to optimize operations and achieve maintenance goals. Qualifications/Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or diploma in industrial mechanics, millwrighting, or a related field is preferred. Experience: 2+ years of experience in a similar maintenance millwright role within an industrial or manufacturing setting. Skills/Personal Qualifications Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Welding and metal fabrication skills are a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement. Physical Requirements Ability to lift heavy objects, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces or at heights. Stamina to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
