Contract Details Emergency Psych Location: Lewiston, Maine Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: 7pm to 7am Hours: 36 hours per week Weekly Gross Pay: $2,253.96 Taxed weekly = $1008 Untaxed weekly = $1245.96 Benefits Medical, dental and vision Free primary care and mental health services via teladoc PTO after 90 days Referral bonus W2 employer Weekly pay Job Description: The Emergency Psychiatric RN provides specialized mental health care to patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises in an emergency room or crisis stabilization setting. This role involves rapid assessment of mental health status, suicide risk, substance use, and behavioral concerns while ensuring patient and staff safety. Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, implementing crisis intervention strategies, administering and monitoring psychiatric medications, collaborating with physicians and behavioral health teams, and coordinating appropriate admissions, transfers, or discharge planning. The ER Psych RN must remain calm under pressure, manage de-escalation situations, and maintain therapeutic communication with patients and families. Candidates should have strong critical thinking skills, experience in behavioral health or emergency nursing, knowledge of psychiatric medications, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. BLS certification is typically required; CPI or other crisis prevention certifications are often preferred.
