The Hinckley Company, known for building and servicing strong, seaworthy and beautiful yachts, is seeking a Mechanic for our boat yard in Easton, MD. The Mechanic performs mechanical, hydraulic, and plumbing tasks for boat repairs, utilizing various power and hand-tools. Essential Duties: Learns how to perform installation and repair of fixtures and equipment for mechanical service, plumbing and plumbing fixtures, and engines and jets. Has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics. Light maintenance of mechanical boat systems. Runs fluid hoses, seacocks, fills and empties propane tanks. May assist in the installation of intake and discharge fittings to provide water for plumbing and engine cooling. Places and secures plumbing fixtures/hoses (head, sinks) and refrigeration (ice box) and applies sealant. Cuts holes for valves, outlets, and drives. Inserts valve and outlet fittings through hole to provide watertight fit. Assists in the installation of other machinery such as motors, pumps, ventilating systems, and auxiliary systems. Develops basic material lists and learns billing/charge process. Requirements Vocational technical school degree/certification or High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED). Two (2) to four (4) years experience in marine or automotive maintenance field. Basic reading, writing, and math (metric) skills Knowledge and operation of portable drill; vacuum; wrenches, pliers, tape, testers, voltmeters, pressure gauge. Additionally, you'll produce high-quality finishes, blend and repair surfaces. Communicate with customers when needed. Perform additional duties assigned to support production goals. Quality Assurance: Inspect painted surfaces for quality and consistency. Perform all work to the Hinckley Company Standards. Safety Compliance: Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area. Other: All duties as assigned. RequirementsExperience: Minimum two (2) years of experience in auto body or marine paint applications. Physical Requirements: Lift and carry over 25 lbs. and up to 60 lbs. on a frequent basis. Certifications: Vocational, high school diploma, or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required. Pre-Employment: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment. Qualifications Familiarity with Awlgrip or similar marine coating systems. Proficient in sanding, masking, and painting techniques. Comfortable using pneumatic tools and spray equipment. Basic math and computer skills for documentation and billing.
