A copy of the OPOTC certificate or the equivalent Letter of Completion from the Ohio Attorney General’s office must be presented at the time of application. At the time of appointment: applicants appointed as peace officers on, or after January 1, 1989, and who have had a break in sworn Ohio law enforcement service of more than one year but less than four years MUST attend a two-day course that meets the requirements described in section 109: 2-1-12(D) of the Ohio Administrative Code. Officers will be required to attend and successfully complete the Airport Police Field Training Program. Age Must be at least 21 years of age. Informs staff and students of unsafe practices and conditions. Provides security gate/desk coverage; ensures proper check-out and check-in procedures. Performs enforcement duties in accordance with laws and regulations to maintain peace and safety. Patrols buildings and grounds to ensure safety and security by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment. Maintains a log of findings and corrective actions taken. Checks identification of personnel seeking entrance or exit and permits or denies access according to policies. Responds to fire alarms, reports fires, assists in fire suppression, and resets alarm equipment. Sets up and checks operation of intrusion alarm systems as required. Assists law enforcement in controlling disturbances; takes initial reports and conducts preliminary investigations. Models, mentors, and monitors positive culture of the center. Acts as a responsible custodian for center property. Reports violations of ethical behavior. Suggests opportunities for operational improvement and waste reduction. Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent with two years of related experience; an Associate’s degree in criminal justice is desirable and may substitute for experience. One year of experience in firefighting, law enforcement, or security preferred. Previous experience working with youth is a plus.
