Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a setting that champions best practices and exceptional customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory agency requirements. Acute care departments include Medical, Surgical, Emergency, ICU, Childbirth, Pediatric, Operating Room, Perianesthesia, Endoscopy/GI, and Cardiac Cath Lab. Essential Responsibilities: Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term goals. Apply new knowledge from ongoing education to improve patient care and promote cost-saving practices. Make patient care assignments based on nurse expertise, patient acuity, and technical needs. Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues, embodying core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and courage. Communicate clearly to manage expectations and provide timely responses to patient needs. Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise and supporting healthcare students and their programs. Prioritize safety for patients, guests, staff, and self by adhering to national safety standards, HIPAA, and Just Culture principles. Engage in professional growth through certifications, advanced degrees, leadership opportunities, and evidence-based practice. Foster teamwork by motivating and mentoring colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and building trust. Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or, if unaccredited, a minimum of five years acute care nursing experience. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable. Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications to be obtained and maintained upon hire. Licensure and Certifications: Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board. Work Shift: Day and evening shifts with 40 scheduled weekly hours, including weeknight and weekend call requirements. This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest region of the United States.
