JOB SUMMARYThe Sonographer - Echo Cardiac Ultrasound at North Mississippi Health Services plays a crucial role in echocardiography from neonatal to geriatric populations and must possess knowledge in using computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment. This role has specific responsibilities in performing various inpatient and outpatient transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography procedures, completing all preliminary reports, ensuring proper charting, charges, filing data, maintaining inventory, and participating in Performance Improvement activities. The incumbent will engage in ongoing continuing education and performance improvement initiatives.JOB FUNCTIONSEducationalParticipate in the training of new personnel.Engage in on‑going staff education.ClinicalDemonstrates the ability to perform a complete and accurate transthoracic 2D adult echocardiogram across all main unit areas, including portable and STAT echoes, cardiac observation unit, chest pain unit, outpatient, and inpatient echoes.Demonstrates detailed knowledge of cardiac anatomy, disease processes, and the effect of these processes on cardiac structures and blood flow.Performs all aspects of echocardiography, including M‑mode, 2‑Dimensional, Spectral and Color Flow Doppler, Exercise Stress Echocardiography Adult, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Pericardiocentesis, Septal Ablations, Bubble Study, Optison Contrast Protocol, Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS).Performs limited pediatric transthoracic echocardiograms.ClericalResponsible for proper charting, filing, and charging of all echocardiography procedures performed.Responsible for lab preparation for the following day’s schedule and adequate supplies.Responsible for computerized patient scheduling on an as‑needed basis.Responsible for patient transport coordination via Teletracking.Assists in resolving discrepancies promptly.InventoryResponsible for maintaining adequate inventory of supplies needed for procedures performed.Performance ImprovementParticipates in hospital and departmental ongoing performance improvement activities.Complies with actions taken as a result of those activities to assure high quality patient care.Actively participates in correlation studies and reviews for maintenance of accreditation and intradepartmental educational purposes.Remote Work Capable—QUALIFICATIONSEducationAssociate’s Degree in Applied Science or Graduated Accredited Cardiac and/or Vascular Ultrasound program – Required.Basic and Advanced Cardiology classes – Preferred.Continuing education required annually for Cardiology procedures performed – Required.Licenses and CertificationsCCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing Internation – Required within 90 Days.RDCS – Required within 90 Days.CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation – Preferred.Work Experience1-3 years of work experience not required due to on‑job training program – Preferred.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDetailed knowledge of cardiac anatomy, disease processes, and their effect on cardiac structures and blood flow.Ability to perform detailed measurements and calculations to define disease states.Knowledge and use of computerized ultrasound and echocardiography equipment.Experience with pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.Ability to work independently of supervision.Excellent teamwork skills.Proficient in Change Healthcare Cardiology system; ability to work‑up and complete reports accurately and timely.Commitment to customer service and cost control.Ability to prioritize and organize workflow and patient flow for inpatients and outpatients.Maintains positive and professional relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, support staff, vendor representatives, affiliate staff, patients, visitors, and coworkers.#J-18808-Ljbffr
