Job DescriptionJob DescriptionResponsibilities: Attend all meetings/trainings required by Communicare and the Department of Mental HealthMaintain certification as a Peer Support SpecialistWork collaboratively with other mental health staff Provide peer support services for assigned individuals receiving services as determined by individual need Assist in the orientation process for new individuals receiving services Support individuals receiving services in transition to increase access to and utilization of supports and resourcesImprove communication between individuals receiving services and service providersImprove the team’s understanding of lived experience, recovery, and resilience through modeling personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness Maintain current documentation of services in the individual’s filesProvides crisis supports by listening to the individual and collaborating with the treatment teamSupport individuals receiving services in taking an active self-directing role in their recoveryProvide group peer support services daily on all CSU unitsCoordinate discharge planning for individuals preparing to leave the CSUAdhere to other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or associated Program Coordinator/DirectorQualifications: High School Diploma or GED; or, if ages 16-20, must be actively enrolled in school or GED program Have transportation, hold a valid driver’s license, have automobile insurance, and have a safe driving record. Identifies self as a current or former mental health consumer with a sustained period of self-directed recovery or be a first-degree family member of a former or current consumer.
