Summary Lead a team of retail enthusiasts to provide top tier customer service to guests and employees through the recommendation and sales of industry leading merchandise and apparel. Assists Retail Supervisor with all aspects of Retail Shop operations, including hiring, scheduling, maintaining inventory and safe and courteous service to resort guests and employees. Duties And Responsibilities Are (but Not Limited To) Assists Retail Supervisor in hiring, scheduling, training, and leading of all Retail staff to provide an enjoyable retail experience. Knowledge about outdoor and ski industry gear and apparel to ensure precise recommendations regarding the appropriate products for guests needs. Provide superior service to all customers, the public and employees. Understanding of current trends, technical details, and fabric characteristics and communicating this information to the guest as needed. Accepting payment efficiently, diplomatically and entering appropriate payment type. Render sales of credit cards while giving back appropriate receipts. Assisting other retail sales associates to help understand specific daily retail duties and functions. Running register and sale related reports at the end of the day. Assist guests with information about various discounts, deals, special promotions and other Sierra related products. Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor. Flexible working hours. Responsibilities To Safety Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others. Supervisory Responsibilities In immediate supervisor’s absence, supervises 15 to 30 employees in the Sierra Mountain Sports Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complains and resolving problems. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.). One to three years retail/sales experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Resort certification on any necessary equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
