Position Summary First Choice Community Health Center is seeking a Dental Assistant II to join our team of dental professionals. Under the supervision of the Dentist, the Dental Assistant II will provide chairside assistance and ensure the efficient operation of the clinical component of the dental center. Responsibilities include recording dental findings, completing clinical charting and coding, and sterilizing equipment. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in Dentistry is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Chairside assisting; Seating and preparing patients for treatment; obtaining pertinent information and assisting in procedures; Exposing and developing radiographs according to standard protocols and/or dentist orders; Assisting dentists during oral exams and treatments; Maintaining dental instruments and equipment; Assisting dental hygienists and clerks when necessary; Maintaining clinical supply inventory and the dark room; Following proper infection control procedures in clinical areas; Taking impressions for study models and applying pit and fissure sealants; Polishing teeth after prophylaxis and providing oral hygiene instructions; Handling purchase orders and ordering monthly expendable supplies; Participating in continuing education as appropriate; Inserting matrix bands and wedges, placing cavity bases and liners; Placing and removing rubber dams; Fabricating and cementing temporary restorations; Applying acid etch materials and bonding agents; Removing periodontal dressings, sutures, and excess cement; Placing gingival retraction cords; Flushing, drying, and temporarily closing root canals; Placing and removing temporary restorations; Inserting interdental spacers and fitting orthodontic bands or brackets; Applying dentin desensitizing solutions; Performing adjustments affecting function, fit, or occlusion of restorations or appliances; Polishing the clinical crown with appropriate tools and agents; Performing other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience: DA Certification from an accredited program; Coronal Polish Certification preferred; Two years of dental assisting experience; Current CPR certification; NC X-ray certification preferred.
