City Attorney Office Representative Under general supervision, provide a wide variety of duties related to the operations of the City Attorney's Office. Assume independent judgment with minimal direction by the City Attorney and/or Supervisor and must be able to handle confidential matters with a high level of judgment. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Serve as a representative of the City of Mesquite, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and with the public. Respond to and assist with calls from the public, court, and attorneys; accurately distribute correspondence and other communications received; receive inquiries and concerns on behalf of the City Attorney's Office. Create, organize, and maintain department filing and case management records systems. Perform administrative duties such as filing, copying, scanning, & shredding. Draft and file correspondence, forms, documents, and pleadings. Assist with preparing criminal discovery packets for mailing to defendants and their attorneys in criminal cases, including creating discovery letters, scanning, redacting, arranging trial exhibits, witness statements, body camera, and surveillance DVD burning, and all other appropriate discovery documentation. Assist with preparing subpoenas for issuance and service in trials. Assist with day-to-day operational activities within the City Attorney's Office. Be dependable and always meet acceptable attendance requirements. Track, store and destroy files. Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations. Must be able to pass and complete all NCJIS and NCCIS training certifications and background requirements. Other Job Functions: Assist in departmental operations assigned. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: One year of clerical or receptionist experience License or Certificate: Must possess at the time of employment and continuously throughout employment a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.
