Job Title: Crew Worker Department: Energy Housing Report To: Field Manager Salary Range: 4 Classification: 7 Status: Non-Exempt Position JOB SUMMARY The Crew Worker is required to install, under instruction of the Lead Crew Worker, devices and materials to reduce the infiltration of air and the loss of heat through the exterior of eligible dwellings. They will assist the Lead Crew Worker in organizing job sequence. This position performs energy conservation measures to homes as delineated in the work orders. A variety of manual and power tools are used in job functions. Work to be performed in all climatic conditions. The Crew Worker will assume the duties and responsibilities of the Lead Crew Worker in the absence of the Lead Crew Worker at the direction of program and Agency supervisory personnel. QUALIFICATIONS Education : High School Diploma or equivalent. Education may be waived with significant job-related experience. Experience : Less than 1 year. Authorization : Valid Driver’s License, DOT Physical. SKILLS, ABILITIES, & OTHER KNOWLEDGE Skills : Excellent oral and/or written communications skills. Ability to manage time that results in both a satisfactory quantity and quality of work. Ability : Support the Mission of the Agency through daily work and while representing the Agency in public. Have general knowledge of programs and activities of the Agency. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member. Must be able to handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to organize a work schedule, set priorities and work effectively to meet deadlines without supervision. Must be able to adjust to changes necessitated by last minute assignments and deadlines requests that may prove stressful. Ability to effectively work across differences, especially socio-economic and cultural differences. Attend trainings, classes and meetings as necessary to improve job skills and maintain an acceptable level of job performance. Serve as a mentor for new staff. Other Knowledge : Have knowledge and apply Agency policies and procedures, including safety, technology, data practices and other applicable policy, procedure and program regulations. Understand numbers and mathematical concepts. Working knowledge of construction/rehabilitation/energy efficiency and building science. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned. Area 1: Program Operations Install all forms of insulation and venting materials. Be able to correctly operate blower door and use pressure diagnostics to evaluate the building. Seal bypasses and other routes of air infiltration. Apply caulk and weather-strip. Repair siding and roofing components. Repair or replace entire door units. Repair or replace entire window units. Repair or replace entire storm window and storm door units. Area 2: Program Compliance Maintain knowledge of current technology through Agency sponsored training, reference manuals, and self-instruction. Follow protocol of Minnesota Weatherization Field Guide, the Standard Work Specifications, the National Energy Audit Tool, the Manufactured Home Energy Audit, and other audits adopted by the State Department. Area 3: Program Communications Answer consumer questions about basic energy conservation ideas and methods. Area 4: Development Assistance Obtain required licenses and certifications as determined by Department Director and program needs. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; display sound safety work habits and work environment for self and co-workers. JOB FACTORS Supervision of Others : Not responsible for supervision of others. Safety of Others : Minimal responsibility for the safety of others. Probability of injury to self or others is remote. Contacts : Contact is within own department, and with other departments, customers, vendors, or the public. Physical Demand : Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Requires sitting, standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Physical ability to operate equipment specific to your position. Travel : Must have reliable transportation. Must have valid driver’s license and current auto insurance coverage in compliance with Minnesota State guidelines on the vehicle used for work-related travel. Travel for completion of job duties, trainings and meetings as required.
