Job Purpose You will be responsible for providing an excellent level of care to adults over the age of 18 with complex acquired neurological conditions and physical disabilities. You will work closely with the Unit Manager and Director of Nursing to lead the employees within the unit and uphold high standards of care for all residents. Key Responsibilities Produce and maintain concise, clear, and effective person-centred care plans, risk assessments, rehabilitation pathways, and reports for residents in line with key legislation and CQC regulations, incorporating a holistic approach to care. Monitor the implementation process for care and rehabilitation pathways within your allocated unit. Ensure that all medication is administered and recorded correctly according to MNCC procedures. Follow nursing management strategies for residents with complex physical and sensory disabilities, seeking specific/specialist advice when appropriate, and inform the Unit Manager or Director of Nursing of any changes to a resident’s circumstances. Participate in MDT meetings, assessments, and placement reviews. Provide support and education to residents, enabling them to make choices and understand their emotional, social, health, and well-being needs, including handling distressing or emotional circumstances with residents and their family members/friends. Complete all documentation accurately and on time, adhering to GDPR regulations and maintaining confidentiality. Provide leadership and clinical guidance for Nursing staff and Health Care Assistants (HCAs) to develop their competence and skills and deliver excellent standards of care. Provide support, supervision, and training in the induction of new staff, ensuring they are integrated into the care team effectively. Participate in clinical supervision as appropriate with your Unit Manager. Understand the main routes of infection spread by liaising with MNCC’s infection control leads, including how to prevent cross-infection. Update procedures where required. Adhere to the ‘Care Act’ 2014 and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) when caring for all residents within MNCC. Assist in the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be responsible for maintaining these standards. Assist in the auditing process for monitoring standards of quality and care, in line with the ‘Essence of Care’ benchmarking process. Handle complaints in adherence to MNCC and whistleblowing policies. Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and notify risks to Senior Management while following the Incident, Serious Incidents, and Near Misses reporting policy and procedure. Assist in the planning and monitoring of staffing requirements. Sign timesheets and manage clinical and medication stock levels. Complete Return to Work meetings and record sickness and absence in accordance with MNCC procedures. Additional Responsibilities In the absence of the Unit Manager, provide leadership and guidance to unit staff. Employees must be aware of their Health & Safety responsibility to ensure that agreed safety procedures are carried out and to maintain a safe environment for all employees, residents, volunteers, and visitors. Be aware of infection control policies, procedures, and the importance of protecting themselves, residents, volunteers, and visitors while maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Develop own teaching skills and participate in training workshops and clinical events relevant to your development as a registered nurse and assist with teaching sessions for Newly Qualified RNs and HCAs to develop their competence in their roles. Receive induction training and yearly updates for Manual Handling/Moving and Positioning to provide sufficient and safe practice with residents, including working with hoists, rota stands, and other specialized transfer, positioning, and postural management equipment while fulfilling Health & Safety policies and legislation. Follow MNCC training requirements such as yearly mandatory training via e-learning, staff competencies, and workshops as required. The post-holder may be required to carry out other duties and responsibilities, as determined by MNCC. The job description will also be subject to change in line with the needs of the Centre.
