ARMY & AIRFORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE - AAFES
Mannford, OK
The Air Force JAG Corps - Military Attorney ARMY & AIRFORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE - AAFES is seeking a Military Attorney to serve in the JAG Corps. Joining the JAG Corps offers a unique legal career that steps away from daily corporate routines and allows you to practice law in a variety of settings, see the world, and grow as a lawyer. Qualifications Must be a citizen of the United States. Must be a graduate of an ABA‑approved law school and be admitted to practice law in the highest court of any U.S. state, commonwealth, territory or the District of Columbia. Must be commissioned before the age of 40. If selected, applicants must complete and pass an Air Force medical examination within 30 days before an assignment offer is extended. Service Commitment The commitment begins upon acceptance of the JAG assignment. The initial active‑duty commitment is four years, starting on the day the officer departs for Officer Training School (OTS). No service commitment is incurred until the assignment is accepted. Prior Military Service Applicants who are direct‑appointed and have prior active duty, National Guard, or Reserve service will receive credit for length of service toward pay and may also receive advanced entry grade and appropriate date of rank. All active‑duty service is also credited toward retirement. How to Apply Application Process Selection boards are held in February, April, August, and November. Submit your online application materials and schedule a hiring interview with a Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) at an Air Force Base through the online system. Interview deadlines are the first of the board month (e.g., February 1, April 1, etc.). Submit all additional materials before the interview deadline. After the interview, the SJA will report to HQ USAF/JAX. Schedule Your SJA Interview Use the online application system to select your preferred Air Force Base. Once you submit your application, the SJA or a representative will contact you to schedule your interview before the board date. A map of all AFB locations is available here: BASE LOCATIONS . Recommendation Letters Letters should be written by individuals who can attest to your work ethic, duty performance, and leadership potential. Address all letters to “Selection Board Members.” Do not mail letters directly to the board—upload them as part of your online application.
