Field Technician I - Mannford, OK Installs, terminates, tests, and troubleshoot in-home telephone and broadband systems by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned. Pulls cables, such as cat5, coaxial, twisted pair, optical fiber and other cable types, through conduit, aerial and buried. Also, will pull/run lines in attics, crawlspaces, perform wall fishes working outside as well as inside homes and businesses. Conducts home installations and troubleshoots in home telephone and broadband issues. Installs modular connectors for broadband and telephone users. Terminates cable on cross connects, hubs, and routers. Uses cable testing equipment such as Layer 1 copper test set and other broadband test sets to troubleshoot in home problems. Provides new users with cable and modular connections and relocates cable connections for existing users. Performs preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs. Works with a variety of hand tools. Conceptual knowledge of telephone cable splicing. Familiarity with telephone cable and fiber color codes. Locates cables for the purpose of ensuring construction can occur without disrupting service to customers. Tasks may include operating the cable locator, flagging or painting locations, reading staking sheets, attending construction meetings, working with contractors, etc. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current Driver’s License Other Skills and Abilities Knowledge of basic electronics, specification sheets, and circuit diagrams. Knowledge of telecommunications plant equipment operations and maintenance. Knowledge of company products and services Knowledge of company policies and procedures Ability to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets, and operating and maintenance instructions manuals. Ability to operate a PC or laptop. Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces, and at various heights up to forty feet in the air.
