Summary This role involves functioning as an emergency response medical professional, providing immediate medical care to victims of accidents, violence, and sudden medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests or strokes. You will offer pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from the moment of contact until patient care is transitioned to the accepting medical facility. Job Duties Represent our ambulance service at public functions, events, and provide standby services when needed. Document comprehensive assessments and treatments using patient care charting software. Provide medical, traumatic, and therapeutic services to patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises. Collaborate as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to emergency and non-emergency calls. Operate advanced life support equipment, including bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and electrocardiograms. Evaluate the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to prioritize medical procedures like stabilization, immobilization, and transport of victims from emergency scenes. Respond to dispatcher instructions while operating emergency vehicles safely and efficiently. Administer medications via injection, intravenous methods, or orally, under physician guidance. Communicate effectively with medical professionals at treatment facilities to receive and implement treatment instructions. Thoroughly clean and decontaminate the ambulance following patient transport involving infectious diseases and report any incidents to the proper authorities. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED. Competency in assessing the needs of acutely and chronically ill patients and their families. Ability to document and communicate critical information via computer and/or paper documentation tools. Demonstrated skills in age-specific competencies across various patient demographics. Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety measures. Ability to apply advanced knowledge and training promptly in life-saving procedures. ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Certification in Pennsylvania upon hire. PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - Certification in Pennsylvania upon hire. American Heart Association Basic Life Support - Certification in Pennsylvania upon hire. EMSVO Certification in Pennsylvania upon hire. Paramedic Certification (PA EMT-P or NREMT-Paramedic) in Pennsylvania upon hire. Valid Driver's License in Pennsylvania upon hire. Preferred Qualifications Associate's Degree. Two years of experience in advanced life support services. One year of pre-hospital paramedic experience. Current NREMT-Paramedic certification in Pennsylvania is preferred. Pre-Hospital RN certification in Pennsylvania upon hire. Physical Demands This position requires the ability to lift over 50 lbs, push/pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs short distances, along with frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
