Sonoco is seeking a Maintenance Reliability Technician Apprentice to join our team in Hartsville, SC. The goal of the Apprenticeship Program is to recruit and train our future skilled maintenance labor force to drive strong reliability maintenance practices that keep our equipment safe and profitable for many years. Training in the multi-craft fields of electrical, mechanical and robotics will keep Sonoco in tune with the rest of industry and develop strong talent to lead our Maintenance Departments in the future. Length of Apprenticeship: 4 years with a pay increase yearly after On-the-Job Training competencies have been met and employee is still within good standing. What you'll be doing: Safety: Zero (0) injuries. Required to support and/or lead safety initiatives for department and/or plant. Required to perform safety audits and training. Maintains and repairs production equipment as directed by Maintenance Supervisor. Maintains and repairs utility and facility-related equipment as directed by Maintenance Supervisor. Assist other maintenance personnel with repairs as needed. Assist other maintenance personnel with tooling changes and set up. Manage small projects to maintain or upgrade equipment. Education Requirements: Must complete Associates degree/certificate in Mechatronics or equivalent (program must be approved through Corporate ME). Must maintain a 3.0 average during schooling or will result in termination of Apprenticeship contract and consideration for available entry level positions. Course work must be completed outside normal working hours. Normal working hours will be decided upon by Plant Engineer, On-the-Job Trainer and Apprentice with expectations of at least 20 hours/week. Sonoco will pay for 100% of schooling after grants/scholarships. On the Job Training Requirements: Candidate must complete all elements of On-the-Job Training within 4 years. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and transferring patients, operating medical equipment, and standing for extended periods.
