Sales Manager
Return
Chatfield, MN
Job Description Job Description Position Title: Sales Manager Reports To: Chief Executive Officer Position Summary At Return, we’re all about Good-for-the-Earth solutions that make a meaningful impact for farmers and the planet. As our Sales Manager, you’ll do more than just lead our sales efforts—you’ll be the driving force behind our mission to empower farmers with sustainable, soil-health-focused products. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on sales, offering the chance to connect with farmers, build lasting relationships, and drive meaningful growth. You’ll develop and execute sales strategies, inspire and guide a dynamic sales team, and work directly with customers to champion our growing supplies. This is an in-person role with a hybrid schedule—spend about three days in the office (currently in Stewartville, MN, moving to Hayfield, MN, in 2025), with remote work and time spent visiting regional clients. This opportunity is perfect for someone who knows the ins and outs of agricultural sales, loves building relationships with farmers, and is ready to lead by example. It’s also an excellent fit for a seasoned agribusiness manager eager to transition into a sales-driven leadership role where they can make a difference for the farming community and the future of agriculture. Position Responsibilities We’re looking for a Sales Manager who is ready to lead with purpose, drive growth, and make a meaningful impact. Here’s what the role entails: Lead and Manage the Sales Team Inspire and motivate the sales team to achieve their best. Recruit, train, and oversee local, regional, and national sales staff. Strategically manage schedules, territories, and quotas to optimize performance. Conduct regular performance evaluations and address challenges in alignment with our company values. Strategic Sales Development Develop and execute innovative sales strategies across direct sales, e-commerce, and B2B markets. Identify untapped markets, customer leads, and growth opportunities to expand our reach. Leverage data-driven insights to project targets, monitor profitability, and adjust strategies. Partner with executive leadership to align on quotas, goals, and sales initiatives that reflect our mission. Active Selling and Relationship Management Build and maintain strong networks to generate new leads. Engage directly with customers to understand their needs and deliver Good-for-the-Earth solutions. Foster lasting relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues proactively. Provide detailed forecasts and insights to guide decision-making and drive results. Representation and Outreach Be the face of Return at trade shows and industry events, connecting with key players in the field. Build partnerships with resellers, wholesalers, retailers, cooperatives, agronomy services, and other influential partners to amplify our impact. Administrative and Technical Oversight Manage Salesforce and related CRM systems to keep the team organized and data-driven. Oversee budgets, monitor expenses, and evaluate sales performance to ensure profitability. This isn’t just about managing sales—it’s about leading the charge for sustainable growth, building trust with our customers, and making an impact that matters. Ready to take the next step? Let’s grow together. Required Skills and Competencies Proven ability to lead and build high-performing teams with a collaborative mindset. Experience in the agriculture industry, ideally working directly with farmers. A passion for building relationships and connecting with customers on a personal and professional level. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with farmers, partners, and the internal team. Proficiency in Salesforce, Asana, Monday, Slack, and Google Workspace to stay organized and data-driven. Familiarity with digital marketing, and online sales strategies to fuel growth. Strong negotiation skills to drive mutually beneficial outcomes. Analytical and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges and create innovative solutions. A detail-oriented mindset to thrive in a fast-paced environment without losing sight of the bigger picture. A willingness to uphold Return’s values and foster growth for the company, our team, and the farmers we serve. A drive to champion Good-for-the-Earth solutions and make a meaningful impact on agriculture. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. At least 5 years of agriculture sales experience. Prior experience in a managerial role within an agribusiness working with farmers is highly desirable. Work Environment and Physical Demands Hybrid role: three days in-office (Stewartville, MN, moving to Hayfield in 2025) with remote and regional travel. The role requires frequent travel within the Midwest region (Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin) and occasional trade shows. Physical activity may include standing, walking, and lifting items up to 50 pounds.
