Schedule Details: 3rd Shift with 8 and 12-hour shifts; every third weekend rotation and holiday rotation. Unit Overview: Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit, caring for a diverse and complex patient population including: Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections. Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries. Stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program. High volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases. The Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) offers exposure to advanced neurosurgical techniques and cutting-edge care. What You'll Do: Deliver and coordinate comprehensive, evidence-based patient care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and compassionate care. Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking to support optimal patient outcomes. Contribute to a positive patient experience across the continuum of care. Why Join Us? Major Responsibilities: Assess patient needs, plan, implement interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness. Recognize significant changes in patient condition and act promptly. Implement safety strategies and meet learning needs of patients and families. Coordinate discharge plans with an interdisciplinary approach. Evaluate outcomes and take proactive actions to improve patient care. Foster communication among healthcare team members and assume leadership roles. Promote a culture of safety and report any incidents promptly. Engage in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities. Licensure and Education Required: Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Completion of an accredited nursing program. Experience Required: Typically requires at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Ability to provide holistic, patient-centered care. Recognize situational changes requiring timely interventions. Proficient computer skills for electronic records and communication. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates ability to build rapport with patients and team members. Ability to prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and mobility. Required to lift and carry specified weights safely. Ability to deal with exposure to chemical and hazardous waste. Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and tactile skills.
