Job Overview Assist cook with meal preparation in accordance with preplanned menus, within established budgets, and in compliance with government and management directives. Act as lead worker for food service trainees and Center work base learning students (if applicable). Pay: Pay: $17.26/hour plus an additional $4.93/hour (up to maximum of 40 hours per week) used to offset the cost of elected benefits Retirement Plan: Eligible to participate in company 401(k) with Company matching after 1 year Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year. Actual days are based upon your Service Date Sick Time: Accrued sick time at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, capped at 56 hours per year Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Prepare vegetables by washing, peeling, coring, grinding, shredding, or chopping, for use in entrees. Prepare meats for cooking by washing, trimming, boning, cutting, cubing, or forming into patties or loaves. Cook or bake items, which require minimum preparation. Help cook and serve meals, ensuring that prepared foods are held and served at proper temperatures, and all left over foods are properly chilled and stored. Keep food service area, tables, floors, and equipment clean and sanitary. Prepare desserts as needed. Assist with the appropriate storage of dry goods and freezer items. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices and OSHA standards. Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn. Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skills acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High school diploma or equivalent. Training in food preparation and one (1) year of experience. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s certificate within 30 days of employment. Successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract.
