Medical Assistant (PRN) Wayne Community Health Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our clinic provider team on an as-needed basis. The Medical Assistant works closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to deliver high-quality primary healthcare services. This role includes limited direct patient care, clinical support, laboratory procedures, and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced rural healthcare setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Relations Prepare patients for examinations, including obtaining vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaint. Update and reconcile patient health histories at each visit, including medications, allergies, medical/surgical history, family and social history. Maintain patient comfort and provide clear communication throughout the visit. Ensure efficient patient flow throughout the clinic. Clinical Support Assist providers with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Administer medications and vaccines per standing orders and current guidelines. Conduct routine screenings (vision, hearing, blood pressure, etc.). Collect and process specimens and perform in-house laboratory testing in a moderately complex lab. Prepare specimens for outside laboratory testing and document results accurately. Assist with in-house X-rays as directed. Perform quality control, proficiency testing, and equipment maintenance in compliance with OSHA, CLIA, CQI, and infection control standards. Maintain and process instruments for minor surgical procedures. Monitor inventory and ensure laboratory and clinical supplies are stocked and viable. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the clinic's EMR. Manage incoming and outgoing patient communications, including phone messages, referrals, and test results. Enter clinical and administrative data efficiently and accurately. Support streamlined clinic operations and patient scheduling flow. Team Support & Performance Improvement Collaborate effectively with providers, nursing staff, and clinic leadership. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Medical Director or Nursing Director. Safety & Infection Control Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment. Adhere to infection control standards and proper use of PPE. Follow all safety protocols to ensure patient and staff well-being. Qualifications High school diploma or higher. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. (can be obtained after hire) Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated compassion and professionalism when interacting with patients and providers. Preferred (Not Required) Certified Medical Assistant (training provided) ACLS PALS Emergency/code response training (Training is encouraged but not required at the time of hire.) Compensation Salary: Competitive; based on experience and qualifications Schedule: As-needed / PRN, hours vary based on clinic needs
