Chief Development Officer About the Company Prestigious liberal arts college for women Industry Education Management Type Educational Institution Founded 1901 Employees 201-500 Categories Education Services Sweet Briar College Training About the Role The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its fundraising efforts, with a primary focus on major gifts, annual giving, and planned giving. The CDO will be responsible for managing a team of gift officers, the Director of Advancement Services, and the Advancement and Stewardship Manager. This role involves collaborating with the Vice President for Alumnae Relations and Development and the President to identify fundraising priorities that align with the College's strategic vision and mission goals. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate support for the College's mission, manage a donor portfolio, and develop and implement strategic plans for securing major gifts. Essential responsibilities also include identifying potential donors, cultivating relationships, and providing exemplary stewardship.Applicants for the CDO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in major gift, planned gift, leadership development, or a similar professional field. Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to lead and motivate staff and volunteers. The role requires a high level of integrity, dependability, and sound judgment, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office and the willingness to travel frequently. A Master's degree or a background in a higher education environment, along with a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification, is preferred.
