Responsibilities Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and perform other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; if PTCB certified, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and pharmacy cash registers. Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Customer Experience Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied). Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers. Operations Assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy, under the supervision of the pharmacist and review compliance with the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. Perform duties such as entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine correctness, and checking for possible interactions; assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow. Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Strictly adhere to Walgreens Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities. Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash, and assist customers in the OTC aisle as appropriate. Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians. Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner and perform other clerical duties as assigned. Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and file claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods. Assist pharmacist with clinical services such as collection and labeling of blood/urine samples and coordination of clinical services as required. Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with local medical community and outreach to health groups. Assist with maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly Pharmacy Department and comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned. Training & Personal Development Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration. Attend training as requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy. Basic Qualifications Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours. Preferred Qualifications Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment. Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens. Prefer good math skills for prescription accuracy.
