POSITION : HIM Supervisor SALARY : Depending on Experience STATUS : Permanent Full-Time OPENING DATE : 6/25/2025 CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled Position Summary : The Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the HIM Department's daily operations, safeguarding patient health records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and clinic regulations. This role manages health information systems to ensure data accuracy, security, and accessibility. The HIM Supervisor serves as the HIPAA Privacy Officer and acts as a key liaison among patients, providers, staff, and third parties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and support the HIM team, ensuring workflow efficiency and quality. Develop, implement, and monitor HIM policies, procedures, and objectives in compliance with applicable laws and standards (HIPAA, CMS, JCAHO, etc.). Conduct regular audits to verify data accuracy, system integrity, and regulatory compliance. Manage the release of information in accordance with privacy laws, clinic policies, and legal requirements. Analyze health data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or compliance issues; recommend improvements. Coordinate with providers and staff to promote best practices in documentation and data entry. Oversee and evaluate staff performance, training, and development. Monitor and recommend updates to HIM systems, software, and data management processes. Assist with budget planning and departmental reporting. Report and document breaches or unauthorized access to patient data as required. Serve as the clinic's HIPAA Coordinator and maintain responsibility for privacy and security protocols. Prepare and release information on treatment, discharges, and deaths in accordance with regulations. Recently, representatives from across the reservation, including the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes, met for the Intertribal Tourism Summit. The result was a general consensus of the opportunity to develop ecotourism businesses that allow access to these untouched natural resources while carefully protecting tribal interests and managing the volume of tourists. Our project is to develop and execute on a plan that prioritizes the stages of development, identifies the capital investment needs, determines the ownership structures, and projects the ultimate economic and financial benefits to the reservation and Tribes. Project Location: The Wind River Indian Reservation covers 2.2 million acres, which is larger than eight U.S. states, including Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. While the fellow is not expected to travel across the entire reservation on a regular basis, they will be exposed to the unique features of the reservation so that they can build an appreciation for and understanding of the ecotourism opportunities. Most travel will be between WRDF's offices in Fort Washakie and the nearby towns of Riverton and Lander. Project Scope: Be a collaborative partner with a diverse leadership team to develop the long-term economic strategies, maintain momentum, and deliver results.
