Job Description: The Agile Development Group in Ashburn, VA is looking for an Associate Manager within the Manufacturing Department that will manage the Composites Manufacturing and CNC Tool Maker teams within the department. These teams support the manufacturing of next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV). In this role, the Associate Manager will plan and establish operational objectives for their team; lead, direct and review the work of direct reports to maintain workflow and productivity; and ensure weekly, monthly and/or annual objectives are achieved. This position provides input for hiring, firing, promotion, performance and/or compensation decisions for his/her direct reports. Strong communication skills are required in order to work with parties inside and outside of the department to explain and interpret policies and procedures, and to make improvements to processes. This position requires a practical knowledge in leading/managing projects, processes, and employees and it requires a strong knowledge in Machining and Composites Manufacturing. Essential Functions: Manage the Composites Manufacturing and Machining/Tool Maker staff as well as the associated facilities and equipment. This includes activities such as: scheduling, task delegation, timesheet approval, Mid-year and Annual reviews, Career development, and Manpower analysis and staffing. Identification, planning, and coordination of Capital Equipment. Accountable for AS9100 compliance for the composites and machining areas. Support the management and audits of 5S, FOD, and Tool Control for the composites and machining areas on the shop floor. Support manufacturing efficiency targets and on-time delivery goals through personnel accountability, training, planning and improvement efforts. Manage overhead spending budgets for the group and ordering of shop supplies and tooling. Promote new manufacturing processes, techniques, and materials. Identify, lead, and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Provide technical input on DFM for composites, 3DP, and machined parts. Work with PM, IPT leads, and/or CAMs to provide ROMs / labor estimates. Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD clearance and additional clearances as required. Preferred Additional Skills: Active Secret clearance is desired but not required. Experience working in an environment that implements lean practices and ESD controls. Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing Industry experience. Knowledge of materials, processes, and/or technical knowledge required for Composites Manufacturing, Machining, and/or 3D printing.
