Job Description
The RN, LPN, EMT is responsible for supporting the Occupational Health Nurse and
Environmental, Health, and Safety Department.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Support successful plant health and safety programs.
- Monitor occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses to facilitate a safe, healthy work environment. Observe and document proficiently in EMR.
- Care and triage workplace injuries, provide follow-up care on injuries for the employees and communicate status of these injuries to the Occupational Health Nurse and Director of EHS.
- Assist the Occupational Health Nurse in administering occupational health programs which include:
- Hearing Conservation Program with annual audiogram testing.
- Vision exams
- Respiratory protection with annual medical qualifications and fit testing.
- Bloodborne Pathogens Program.
- Emergency Response Program and Emergency Response Team(s),
- Post Accident/Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
- Be a liaison between the employees on your shift and the Occupational Health Nurse and EHS Department.
PRIMARY ACTIVITIES:
- Utilize the medical protocol to assess and evaluate employee health status.
- Provide support and guidance to employees regarding health-related concerns.
- Administer care to employees in accordance with established medical directives and company policies/procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation on all employee contacts in EMR.
- Utilize safety tracking applications to record injury information and compile Safety and Medical data, as needed.
- Computer proficiency and skills.
- Coordinate employee wellness, blood drives, vaccinations, or other health and safety initiatives on your shifts as needed.
- Act as a medical advocate/navigator for employees in health-related matters. Assisting with communication between employees, the Occupational Health Nurse, and Human Resources.
- Post any required documents at time clocks for employee’s communication.
- Administrative support where needed.
- Be a conduit for employees to notify EHS of various needs/concerns (fall protection, need new safety boots, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or Licensed Practical Nurse licensor Emergency Medical Technician.
- Possess working knowledge of emergency medical care.
- Current CPR certification
- Possess sound written and oral communication skills needed to communicate with all levels of employees.
