This position is responsible for all ADA interactive processes that must occur relative to any accommodation requested by an employee. This position works closely with the HR team and other management to determine whether Hilmar can accommodate the request, temporarily or permanently, tracking the various accommodations and the reasons to ensure consistency. Adheres and provides subject matter expertise to all federal, state, and company leave policies and practices. Job Responsibilities
Manage the entire process of workplace accommodation cases, including but not limited to initial intake and assessment, review work restrictions, coordination for interactive process, reasonable accommodations, and job reassignments. Ensure employees working through the ADA process can effectively perform their essential job functions with accommodation. Provide support to departments and employees by ensuring consistent application of disability-related federal and state laws. Track and report various “key elements” of all accommodations, ensuring that trends are brought forward to Leadership to make informed decisions on directions/changes. Effectively correspond with team members regarding ADA decisions. Accurately establish range of absence for leaves as an accommodation (start/return date) and communicate updates promptly with leadership. Communicate and respond to employee questions or concerns during accommodation. Assure fluid communication with HR and Leaders regarding leave and/or accommodation status. Provide support to the HR team by providing updates on employee accommodations regularly. Stay up to date on all federal, state, and local requirements for leaves of absence and disability accommodations. Assist HR teams with various projects as assigned with a particular focus on employee accommodation. Partner with Site Nurse to ensure Job Analysis for each role is accurate and up to date. Serve as a subject matter expert for Hilmar, Dalhart, and Dodge HR team in ADA regulation.
What You Will Need
Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of related experience, or equivalent experience. Excellent multi-tasking, time-management, and prioritization skills. Proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Must effectively communicate with all employees at all levels of the organization. Responsible for managing the entire process of workplace accommodation cases, to include but not limited to: initial intake and assessment, review work restrictions, coordination for interactive process, reasonable accommodations, job reassignments, and medical separations.
What Will Put You Ahead
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Business Administration, or related field plus 5 years of related experience. Professional in Human Resources (PHR), CEBS, or other related certification. Three years of leaves and ADA administration experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. Experience using an HRMS and timekeeping/payroll system. Strong working knowledge of federal and state leave of absence regulations and associated programs (FMLA, CFRA, SDI, PFL, etc.).
Physical Demands & Work Environment The work is primarily performed in an office environment and the physical demands are characteristic of a mostly sedentary role. Specific details of the essential functions of the position are available in the Job Safety Analysis, made available on request.
