JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Musical Tech Director, High School
POSITION GOAL: To provide technical direction for musical performances while also mentoring students to develop real-world skills that can be applied to working in musical theater. QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive background and experience in musical theater, most notably in the area of theater tech, including but not limited to: staging, rigging, lighting, and sound. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Level E, Supplemental Salary Schedule. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume direct responsibility for all technical aspects of musical performances (light panel, sound panel, assessing facilities for repair, etc.) Attend student practices and performances as determined by the Musical Director. Manage/instruct student crew members on running facilities and equipment. Design the overall technical design for the musical. Set up and tear down any performance equipment needed and used by students on the stage. Participate in pre-production meetings to plan tech design and assist in planning the overall show. Handle post-production responsibilities, including assessing income/expenses and preparing materials for future shows.
