Accounting Manager- Treasury
Job Description
Location: Van Wert, OH The Manager of Treasury leads and mentors an excellent team that is experienced and well connected. As Accounting Manager over Treasury , you will oversee key financial operations including premiums receivable, commissions, cash forecasting, 1099 reporting and bank reconciliations. You will have the opportunity to use innovation and analytics to solve problems, implement process improvements, and continue to build out the Treasury function. You will also be an integral part of a strong financial management team dedicated to achieving excellence and driving innovation in a collaborative environment.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Manage all daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and reporting processes for Central and its subsidiaries in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: cash processing, premiums receivable, agency commissions, agency bill processing, collections, and related billing system processes. Review and approve accurate journal entries and full reconciliation of general ledger accounts for all premium receivable and commission accounts. Oversee the company’s escheatment process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Documentation of the theories and reasoning for current processes. Maintain compliance of statutory accounting guidelines, tax authority requirements, and NACHA/PCI payment requirements. Partner with accounting/finance and others across the business to deliver accounting and reporting insight and guidance. Research and respond to requests or inquiries from agents, insureds, and other internal & external business partners. Lead and ensure the maintenance of internal controls over all cash, receivable, and agency commission and billing processes with Model Audit Rule. Maintain accounting and treasury policies and procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement. Lead and develop others by building skills through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing training & development. Lead special projects, as needed, including assistance with corporate initiatives, system implementations, tax matters, and documentation and process improvement efforts. Focus on proactive customer service to both internal and external customers. Develop strong and meaningful relationships within the Corporate Accounting team, across the organization, and with our corporate partners. Establish operational objectives, policies, procedures, and work plans and delegate assignments to the team. Effectively communicate strategy and priorities, set expectations, hold team accountable, and get results. Work appropriately across departments and offices to accomplish corporate objectives and priorities. Manage resources appropriately – staffing, workloads, budget.
What You’ll Bring
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 2 years of experience in accounting. Or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 4 years of experience in accounting. Or 6 years of experience in accounting.
Preferred
Insurance industry experience. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access and analytics software (i.e. Power BI). Licenses and certifications- CPA, AIAF, CMA, CTP etc. Ability to manage staff by attracting talent, setting clear direction, providing appropriate guidance, managing performance, recognizing contributions, and developing capabilities. Ability to cultivate effective relationships with key stakeholders across departments and offices to achieve overall business objectives. Strong oral and written communication skills, strong group presentation, and ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong problem-solving/analytical skills. Proven strategic thought leadership and decision-making skills. Ability to identify and capitalize on continuous improvement ideas. Possesses multi-tasking and prioritization skills. Ability to understand Central Insurance’s policies and processes. Demonstrated ability to perform project work and lead a project team.
