Functional Safety Engineer LER TechForce is looking for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to play a crucial role in the production and development of IC engines. Learn more about us LER TechForce: Life | LinkedIn JOB LOCATION: Columbus, IN, relocation assistance available from US, Mexico, or Canada WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Develop the Functional Safety organization for Internal Combustion Engine products Requirements development and implementation of ISO26262 work products OBD 3-Step development on for various FuSa diagnostics Provide technical advice on applying ISO26262 across multiple CSAR based engine programs Conduct standard safety analyses, by applying functional safety standards and principles to provide feedback and guidance to the engineering design teams for systems, hardware, and software on safety findings and to recommend design changes that improve automotive embedded safety systems and ensure their compliance to safety goals. Responsible for overall Function Safety for gasoline/diesel/CNG engines Lead the safety plan and enable the project team through all phases of safety engineering: requirements elicitation, item definitions, preliminary hazard analysis and risk assessment, functional safety concept, technical safety concept, item integration, safety validation. Perform technical analysis and provide results to support the development of the safety concept and documentation of the safety case: hazard and risk assessment, hazard metric translation, define safety goals and criteria, ASIL decomposition, FMEA and FTA analysis Consult and collaborate with the software design teams to achieve effective technical solutions and ensure that all safety requirements are robust at the systems level, hardware interface level and software architectural levels Analyze/define the functional safety requirements within the project based on the customer requirements. Understand/analyze the requirements from the end user perspective while considering constraints and safety standards as the main objective Carry out the design analysis to support the development of safety case arguments for electronic stability controller Create/update the hazard and risk analyses, safety plan, functional and technical safety concept Specify safety requirements and safety concepts for system/components Support the definition/specification of safety requirements for hardware and software architectures Judge if system design/architecture can fulfill requirements, considering hardware-software components, interfaces, functional and environmental dependencies, using basic understanding of computer/vehicle networks, hardware, and software design Collaborate with the design team in the design of effective technical solutions aimed to achieve adequate robustness at System, HW and SW architectural level in compliance with ISO26262 Lead/support Safety Assessment Reviews held by safety assessor Lead/perform safety analysis using standard deductive (FMEA, FMEDA...) and inductive (H&R, FTA) methods, the outcomes of these analyses will inform to the system design/architecture responsible Support the safety verification & validation activities Lead/participate customers and suppliers safety review meetings Actively participate in product development, including planning and monitoring of safety plans and their validation testing. Lead and complete reviews WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Engineering, Physics or related if combined with development engineering experience in embedded control systems. Preferred candidate possesses a minimum of 5 years' experience as a safety analyst in an automotive environment. Prefer previous experience with Embedded Electronic Controls systems (E.g., Brake, Airbag, Steering) Prefer experience in applying safety according to ISO Client 26262 standards, or secondly IEC 61508 standard. Prefer a good understanding of embedded Software engineering and Hardware engineering domains. Automotive product engineering experience working in product development with OEM. FTA FMEA Failure metrics analysis in accordance with ISO Client-26262 and/or Safe Failure Fraction in accordance with IEC-61508. Reliability Predictions BENEFITIAL: Masters degree in related engineering discipline Experience with engine systems, gas or diesel IPG (IRE-Polus Group) laser experience is highly desired.
