Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY Director of Recruiting and Retention is responsible for leading and managing the company’s driver recruitment and retention strategies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead the driver recruiters (providing support, mentorship and coaching). Work with Human Resources and Safety on overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of driver qualification criterion. Manage time off requests, commission, and annual reviews. Set weekly, monthly, and annual goals for the recruiting department to achieve. Report on recruiting performance (i.e. scheduled, no shows, hires, etc.). Implement training modules for recruiters. Review all prospective driver files. Train new employees as necessary. Scorecard key recruiting and retention metrics (i.e. cost per lead, cost per hire). Manage the driver recruiting advertising and marketing for J&R Schugel Trucking, Inc. Work with marketing department in-house to advertise for specific positions/divisions using social media and other marketing campaigns (i.e. e-blasts, call blasts, drip marketing, etc.). Enhance J&R Schugel’s employer brand by promoting the company’s values, culture, and benefits in recruitment materials and public-facing content. Oversee advertising spend. Stay up to date with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, labor legislation, and driver qualifications (i.e. hiring practices, EEOC, FCRA). Assist with new hire paperwork for drivers, rehires, reinstatements and anything pending on Driver Qualification File (DQF). Research and recommend new and innovative ways to recruit Class A CDL truck drivers. Manage travel for incoming new hires (on-call basis; weekends and Holidays). Negotiate rates for orientation location hotels, shuttle services, and meal options for our drivers. Work with leadership team to set budget goals for staffed truck count. Collaborate with other leadership team members including but not limited to Safety and Operations. Ensure a smooth transition for drivers into their roles, providing ongoing support and addressing any concerns during their initial tenure. Lead the development and execution of driver retention strategies to reduce turnover and enhance driver satisfaction. Maintain close communication with drivers, operations managers and retention specialists to understand staffing needs and retention challenges. Perform other duties as assigned or directed by Supervisor.
EDUCATION • Bachelor’s degree in business management/administration or human resources or equivalent experience in managing driver recruiting. EXPERIENCE • One or more years of management experience. • Experience in the transportation industry strongly preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
