Job Description
Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned a doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience. The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek an Health Services Researcher to join the Department of Neurology . Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience. Position Overview This role is for a neurology health services researcher. The position will work closely with neurologists in the department of neurology and researchers in the Division of Health Services Research to develop a long-term research agenda in neurology health services research. A range of research training, interests and skills will be considered; the key is that the candidate's background will enable unique contributions to Neurology Health Services Research. Duties and Responsibilities In this role, candidates will be expected to develop and execute a novel research agenda in close coordination with mentors and collaborators in Neurology, Neurology Health Services Research and the Center for the Advancement of Team Science, Analytics, and Systems Thinking in Health Services and Implementation Science Research (CATALYST). A variety of primary research subjects and methods may be part of this, including clinical epidemiology of neurologic conditions, pragmatic interventions to improve neurologic care, comparative effectiveness research in neurologic conditions, evaluation of new models of neurologic care and extension of existing models of care to neurologic conditions. In addition to executing their own research agenda, the optimal candidate for this role will also have methodologic skills and the capacity to work as a team scientist with other investigators on campus to formulate and execute novel research projects, aligned with the candidate's methodologic skills. Requirements Applicants are expected to have either a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Public Health, Public Policy) or an MD with prior research training, preferably through a Masters Program. Successful applicants will have a strong publication track record relative to their stage of training. They will also have the capacity to articulate a long-range research trajectory that considers the likelihood of obtaining funding to execute that agenda. In addition, successful candidates will have methodologic training and experience applying the research methods that will be needed to execute that agenda. Strong communication and presentation skills are required, in addition to the willingness and capacity to collaborate with a variety of investigators to execute other research projects.
