From the moment of admission, we prioritize quality, personalized care and support. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as dysphagia/swallowing specialist to the Woodward Resource Center, educating new facility staff on general safe practices in the area of physical nutritional management, facility procedures, systems, and guidelines in new employee orientation. Develop and update training curriculum and material. Serve as Chairperson for the Physical Nutritional Management Committee. Lead multidisciplinary clinical review and systems review meetings including Physical Nutritional Management Core Team Meetings and Physical Nutritional Management Peer Review. Assist supervisor by performing duties such as updating departmental procedures, reviewing documents for compliance with standards, assisting employees, and answering questions. Reports to supervisor concerning substandard practices or performance issues that need to be addressed and assists in the analysis of outcomes. Attend professional meetings, workshops, and training to meet continuing education requirements.
Key Competencies:
Uphold the ASHA Code of Ethics, applying professional standards of practice, while providing clinical services in the field of speech & language pathology. Actively engage in a team environment (including participation in meetings, evaluations, training, consultations and in services and professional development) and work with others to build, foster, and maintain partnerships at a variety of levels, while serving as an advisor for communication and dysphagia management programs. Familiarity with treatment techniques aimed at correcting speech and language disorders and enhancing communication skills, adhering to Intermediate Care Facility Mental Retardation standards of Title XIX for speech and language pathology services. Competence in utilizing specialized equipment and materials for the assessment and treatment of speech-language and auditory problems, including audiometers, impedance bridges, tape recorders, phonic mirrors, language masters, language boards, electronic devices, and other relevant materials. Accurately identify and evaluate communication disorders through test results and effectively instruct speech-language impaired individuals in developing effective communication skills.
