Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Electrical safety design modifications and improvements to equipment and facilities. Responsible for electrical safety investigations and corrective actions. Responsibilities:
Develop, document, and improve preventive maintenance programs to support the improvement of equipment availability and throughput. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for equipment failures and loss of production. Assist maintenance and provide technical guidance required to return equipment to operation to minimize downtime and lost production. Provide “on call” support. Supervise and schedule daily work for plant electronic technicians. Analyze production delay data for establishing and documenting or modifying preventive maintenance tasks. Generate continuous improvement projects based on production delay data. Prepare and review equipment failure/root cause analysis reports and determine/evaluate corrective action items and the impact of corrective action items on the preventive maintenance programs. Develop cost justifications for improvement projects and corrective actions. Develop work orders to detail work requests needed to implement improvement projects or corrective actions. Follow-up and audit to ensure proper completion. Coordinate outside contractor work activities with maintenance personnel or production personnel as required to minimize impacts to cost and production. Assess critical spare parts and parts standardization. Develop and implement standard operating procedures, training, and skill development for electricians and electronic technicians. Determine and install appropriate performance metrics that will promote long-term continuous improvement programs consistent with the operating objectives of the department. Provide support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Perform Project Engineering duties. Fill in for the Supervisors or Department Manager as required. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
Work with planning to prepare, coordinate and maintain schedules for extended production outages and major maintenance work. Support the management and maintenance of the information required for utilizing the plant computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Work with maintenance craftsmen and operations to resolve equipment failures.
Competencies:
Ability to provide leadership. Expertise, knowledge and training in engineering and maintenance. Extensive knowledge and training in product manufacturing. General knowledge of manufacturing processes involved in manufacturing forged or flat rolled metal products. Excellent interpersonal skills. General traits such as action-oriented, conflict manager, decision maker, comprehensive listener, time manager, and positive attitude. Fulfill the roles of facilitator, coach, mentor, counselor, and communicator. Computer skills and the ability to advance those skills as required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Formal training or experience with Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs. Maintenance Engineering or Maintenance Supervisor position with a minimum of 1-3 years of proven experience.
